Poor Conditions of North Las Vegas Roads

There are many positives to living in North Las Vegas, but one downside is the condition of some of the roads. The city has allowed developers to build so quickly without first putting in the proper roadways. One example is some roads go from two lanes to one lane, or from one to three. The room is there for the road lane to go all the way through but it does not. That leads to the next problem lane striping is horrible in some places. At night you can't see them. When you can see them they are all over the place.

Please City of North Las Vegas sort out the roads.

Home Security

We moved into our house a few months ago, and have been thinking about what kind of security modifications we would like to make. The house is prewired for an alarm system so naturally we thought about getting an alarm system. After doing research on alarm companies we decided not to get an alarm. Main reason, they do not physically make it harder for someone to get into your home. Criminals often know they have at least 10 minutes before someone will respond to an alarm. During my research I realize the most common entry points are doors and windows. It takes just seconds for a door to be kicked in. Reason for that is because the frames of the doors are so weak. The Strikemaster II is a 1/8th inch think steel plate that runs down most of the length of the door frame on the side were the deadbolt is. The company stand behinds their product, and the product has several positive reviews. After thinking about it for a few days we did go for the Strikemaster II. Now that the front door is secure our attention turned towards the windows. My wife wanted to go with security bars. There is no doubt they serve their purpose, but the downside is the looks, what the HOA may say, and the neighbors. Instead of security bars we decided to go with 3M Security window film. Someone can still break the glass, but the film will hold the glass in place. If a thief really tried hard enough eventually they would be able to get in through the window, but all their pounding and banging on the glass should give us enough time to react.

Hopefully these actions taken which are not visible to a thief will never have to be tested. We sleep better at night knowing we have taken these home security steps.

Blackberry Curve 8900

My wife has been wanting a new cellphone for a few years now. She has been using a basic model Samsung flip for the last five years. We have service with T-Mobile and have not been impressed with any of their new model phones recently. I have been interested in the G1 which came out a few months ago. Last Friday we went to a T-Mobile store and after looking at the phones they had my wife choose the BlackBerry Curve 8900. We were surprised to learn the phone just came out that same week. After learning all the capabilities of the Blackberry we now understand why people get addidcted to them, and why the have been nicknamed "crackberries." The problem in I know want to upgrade my Nokia flip phone.

Malungay and CiCi's Pizza

Yesterday was a typical Saturday filled with studying, housework and chores. My beautiful wife is from the Philippines and wanted to buy some malungay leaves for cooking. The leaves are common in the Philippines. Some consider malungay leaves to be a miracle plant when it comes to good health. Usually the leaves are added to soups. We also decided to eat out, and visit a Red Box to rent some movies. We first stopped a recently open Filipino store, they did not have any fresh mulungay leaves just frozen ones, no thanks. We then tried a second store, same deal just frozen ones. My effort to save time was wasted and we drove to the Filipino that we knew usually receives a fresh delivery of vegetables every Saturday, but unfortunately they said they would not have any until Tuesday, so no mulungay for us. On to the next mission, getting dinner.

Recently CiCi's Pizza has open up here in Las Vegas. My son noticed the brand new CiCi's Pizza directly across the street from where we were, and suggested we go there. I have been to a CiCi's Pizza before in Texas, but my wife has never been to one. I knew this would not be the kind of place my wife would enjoy, so I tired to drop hits we go somewhere else. Since our son really wanted to eat there, and it was just across the street my wife said lets so for it, so we did. The place has just recently opened and was crowded, you can imagine what type of crowd would be there for $5.49 all you can eat pizza buffet. Even though it was crowded, we made it through the line quickly and were eating in no time. The food of course was nothing special, and as expected, my wife was disappointed. Our son loved it, so in the future any visits to CiCi's Pizza will be a Father and Son lunch.

The two movies we rented were Eagle Eye and Mama Mia. My son and I really enjoyed Eagle Eye, and my wife really enjoyed Mama Mia.

First Post

With so much going on in the world I decided I will start my own blog and provide my own thoughts on what's happening. I have blogs that I read daily and have always wanted to start my own. For those that don't know 702 is the area code for Las Vegas, choosing the blog title was not easy the ideas I had were taken already.

Today the out going Director of the CIA Michael Hayden was asked once again about why Osama Bin Laden has not been caught yet and his answer was because he is hiding. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,480261,00.html) That is an answer that is direct and true. He is hiding quite well, the world has been offered $25 million for his capture and after more than seven years no bounty hunter, mercenary, intelligence organization, or military has been able to find him. Osama just released another audiotape and is reported to still be alive so the hunt is still on. Speaking of the CIA I think our soon to be President's nomination to be the Director of the CIA is grossly unqualified for the position. I hope for the sake of America I am wrong, we will have to wait and see.
